Earlier this month, Arizona approved legislation for peer-to-peer car sharing. These new guidelines recognize car sharing as a unique business model, distinct from traditional rental car companies and takes into account the massive rental car sales tax loophole by setting forth a more level playing field for peer-to-peer car sharing hosts. The bill was passed with strong bipartisan support.

“After several years of hard work and collaboration, I was proud to sponsor this consensus legislation,” said Senate President Karen Fann. “SB 1720 protects Arizona consumers while striking the right balance in providing sensible parameters for new market entrants without disenfranchising existing industry.”

Arizona has proven to be a state that embraces forward-thinking solutions and economic opportunities for its constituents.

Turo is proud of our tremendous growth and, with the passage of this legislation, we now have regulatory stability and certainty as we continue expanding our footprint in the state. We’d like to extend our gratitude to Rep. Travis Grantham and Senate President Karen Fann for their leadership in championing peer-to-peer car sharing in Arizona.
