Take a stand in Washington

Right now, the Washington state legislature is considering an unfair double tax on peer-to-peer car sharing trips.

SB 5801, Washington’s transportation budget bill package, aims to add unfair taxes on peer-to-peer car sharing trips without taking into account the taxes Turo hosts pay when they purchase vehicles. Turo hosts pay their fair share while traditional rental car companies enjoy a $220 million sales tax loophole in Washington each year. This is unfair to the Turo community, and it’s unfair for Washingtonians across the state.

We’re working hard to educate Washington lawmakers about the benefits of peer-to-peer car sharing and urge them to reconsider this unfair tax policy — but we need your help!

Community stories from people like you have been crucial in our efforts to stave off unfair policy in states across the country. Please share your unique story with members of the Washington state legislature — it would go a long way in protecting your right to share and book cars without burdensome taxes.
