Turo is at risk in New York

Turo is currently fighting to lower peer-to-peer car sharing insurance costs in New York to protect your ability to use Turo in the Empire State. If this effort fails, it could be extremely difficult for Turo to continue operating in New York —  and we need your help.

Unlike the rest of the country, New York mandates 25 times more insurance on peer-to-peer car sharing trips than traditional rental car transactions, resulting in liability costs of $62/day compared to $4.20/day elsewhere.

This unfair insurance imbalance has no policy basis and, if unchecked, could deprive New Yorkers of their ability to use Turo, potentially leaving New York as the only state in the country without access to peer-to-peer car sharing.

Your voice needs to be heard

We’re doing everything we can to work with New York lawmakers on this issue, but we need you, our Turo community, to help shed light on how losing peer-to-peer car sharing would impact your quality of life. Your voice can be the key to Turo’s success in this fight.

It’s simple to contact your representatives with a few clicks. Once you’ve taken action, please consider following the prompts to record a short video that we can share with lawmakers in Albany.

Thanks for being a part of the Turo community and advocating for peer-to-peer car sharing!
