Turo scores big at the National Urban League’s Techconnect conference

On August 24, 2019, Turo made history as it served as a sponsor for the first time for a national organization. Turo was the proud sponsor for the National Urban League’s Techconnect Summit during their 2019 national convention Getting 2 Equal: United Not Divided. More than 4,000 of the nation's leading political, business, and community leaders gathered inIndianapolis to convene, share ideas, and discover solutions to issues that have historically plagued underserved urban communities across the country.

I was privileged to be joined by staff from Turo’s People Ops (Human Resources) and our Sales team; Zack Sutter, Lauren Tyson, Stella Nikolopoulou, Dustin McGinnis , all of which were shining stars. These stellar professionals were incredible in engaging nearly 1,000 conference attendees (nearly a quarter of attendees). The National Urban League staff went above and beyond in their effort to provide Turo every opportunity to promote the brand and expose conference attendees to the Turo platform!

Techconnect was one of the most visited venues during the conference. We were able to interact with a variety of high-profile individuals in tech, music, business, and fashion. I had the opportunity to speak about Turo with comedian/actor Mike Epps, 17-time Grammy nominated Anthony Hamilton, and fashion icon Dapper Dan. The highlight, however, was when I was invited to a private meet and greet with former Vice President and current candidate for the Democratic nominee for President, Joe Biden. I was able to share with Vice President Biden how Turo is helping citizens throughout the United States keep pace with the rising cost of living.

All in all, the 2019 National Urban League Conference was an incredibly successful meeting for Turo. Next year’s conference will be held in America’s fourth largest city, Houston, TX. We look forward to working National Urban League staff, and the local Houston Area Urban League, to make next year’s partnership even greater!
